A large and richly detailed Italian majolica centerpiece depicting an overflowing arrangement of life-size fruit on a white ribbed pedestal compote. The fruit is modeled with impressive naturalistic detail and includes oranges, lemons, apples, a pomegranate, figs (shown cut open to reveal the interior), a striped melon or squash, plums or cherries, pears, and broad glossy leaves throughout. The glazing is vibrant and well-executed, with realistic surface textures on each fruit.
The white pedestal base has a classic fluted compote form. A decorative statement piece in the tradition of Italian trompe-l'oeil ceramic fruitware.
**Please look closely in photos. There are several broken pieces.
